Private tutor in Santa Rosa, CA
Education
Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts at the Great Books College, St. John's College, Annapolis, 1972 Master of Arts in Rhetoric (a college teaching degree) at The University of California at Berkeley, 1978 (plus four post-grad years at Berkeley, 1989-1993)
Experience
I taught my daughters at home through high school (they went on to impressive college work); my SAT, ACT, and GRE scores were all in the 99th percentile; I have taught Rhetoric (Argumentation and Writing) in college and university--also European History. I have taught mathematics at grade school and high school levels. I have helped numerous students to make successful applications to the college of their choice, and very much enjoy all this work. I have many years' experience as an editor, including several professional engagements with academic, non-profit, and legal institutions, and a teaching degree in Language Arts and Literature, with an emphasis on Composition. I am, in addition, a Renaissance scholar, with concentration on Nicholas of Cusa, Erasmus, and William Shakespeare.

Hobbies
I have always been family-oriented, including my own and various others that I have adopted. I love reading: history, Shakespeare, Jane Austen, P.G. Wodehouse, and many more. I have been a member (and editor) of the Living Wage Coalition of Sonoma County since its inception in late 2000. I walk, play croquet, crochet, and love watching old movies. I come from a Midwestern Irish Catholic family founded on railroads, and have always loved travel, throughout North America and Europe (I was a high school student in England, for example).
